I have been a clinical social worker since 1980, providing counseling for individuals, couples and groups. These days my work includes being a Certified Yoga Instructor, Mindfulness Meditation Teacher, Spiritual Guide, and Retreat leader.
As one of the pioneers in the mind-body-spirit movement, I've been helping people find fulfillment in their lives for 35 years. With mindfulness as my foundation, my interest is in teaching you how to wake up, slow down, and relax into your life with an enhanced sense of happiness and well-being. I am able to draw from an extensive toolbox, including Yoga wisdom and breathing exercises, meditation practices, psychology, stress reduction, clinical hypnosis and relaxation techniques to help you balance anxiety or depression, handle life transitions, and reduce stress. As I assist you in moving beyond blocks, fears and habit, you will find a sense of peace, clarity, and well-being and be able to reconnect with a deeper truth of who you are.
I teach mindfulness skills, deep relaxation and Yoga Nidra as well as providing counseling in a comfortable and supportive office in the North Georgia mountains. I also provide phone or skype sessions anywhere in the world. I offer classes, workshops and retreats on a regular basis.
In whatever venue we meet, I offer you my skills along with my open-hearted and compassionate presence. All faiths are welcomed and respected.
WHAT IS MINDFULNESS?
Mindfulness is a peaceful state of awareness. It can be practiced as both a formal meditation practice and an informal practice through applying the principles to our everyday lives. Living mindfully allows us to more easily stay in the present moment without getting lost in worry about the future or regret about the past. When you are present in the moment, you have the ability to choose to respond rather than react to situations, feelings or thoughts that may arise.
In time, you learn to open to all of your experiences as they arise and to view them with acceptance, understanding, and compassion. A sense of peace and well-being naturally arises.
“Mindfulness is simply being aware of what is happening right now without wishing it were different; enjoying the pleasant without holding on when it changes (which it will); being with the unpleasant without fearing it will always be this way (which it won’t).” – James Baraz”
